What an exciting
week! God has blessed us in so many ways. We have been very busy this
past week. We have even more on the horizon as we focus on our Fall
Fest outreach & getting the day center closed in within the month
& basically operational hopefully by late November.
First, let me say thank you to Shawnee Chili's. With their "Chili's
Gives Back Night" on Monday we raised $220 with the flyers and $248.60
with direct cash donations in our buckets outside. That is almost $500
in one evening to help the homeless, praise God!
Then the following night we were at Starbuck's for their Coffee with
Care Night. We raised $112 cash & 68 (12 pk) boxes of Via Instant
Coffee for the homeless! Starbuck's didn't stop there, though. They
have committed to their staff giving 100 volunteer hours, at least,
& by doing this will qualify for them to give us a $1000 grant! On
top of this, their employees are buying & brewing the coffee for
our Sunday feedings. Jason Corley, the manager, continued the VIA (12
pk) box donation = a free drink for the donor customer through until
this evening. Once he tallies the additional boxes in the morning, he
will let us know how many more we have earned. AND he has just informed
me that he will continue the free drink for a donated (12 pk) box of
VIA until we reach 100 boxes. So hurry in & help the homeless while
getting your coffee, while the offer lasts!
We finished off our activities with a meeting for volunteers for the Fall Fest Outreach on Saturday, October 24. There was a lot of information gone over, I will do my best to summarize it on the Fall Fest Outreach page.
